Toyota TS030 Hybrid

A single TS030 is readied for a debut at the Spa 1000 km race in May and an entry for two cars is submitted for Le Mans. The vastly experienced Oreca team will assist in running the cars, while Alexander Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima will be among the drivers. In a change to the original FIA World Endurance Championship regulations issued in December, only the highest finishing car in LM P1 will score championship points for the Manufacturer’s World Title at each of the eight rounds in 2012 and only the six best scores, which must include the points scored at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, will count towards the title. This means that Toyota, who are entering the Championship at Spa in May, will be able to take the challenge to Audi in 2012.

“The changes were requested following the withdrawal of Peugeot from the FIA World Endurance Championship last month and were agreed by all parties,” said FIA WEC CEO Gerard Neveu. “The changes will allow Toyota, who have brought forward their participation in the championship to round 2 in Spa, to fight with Audi for the inaugural World Endurance Championship Manufacturer’s title.

“These changes to the regulations will certainly make the 2012 season more exciting for both teams and spectators alike.”

The changes were agreed by the FIA Endurance Commission and ratified by the FIA World Council.

The regulations regarding the FIA World Endurance Driver’s Championship and the other titles are unchanged.

With 30 confirmed entries for 2012, the FIA World Endurance Championship will start in Florida on March 17 with the 60th edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring, one of the world’s leading endurance races. The FIA WEC will also visit Belgium, France, UK, Brazil, Bahrain, Japan and China.

Zaterdag mede door het slechte weer en een afwezige vrouw des huizes, de WEC 1000 km van Spa gekeken.

De Audi's maakten er onderling een aardige race van. Hopend at Toyota een beetje snel de gang er in krijgt.

En zeker de GTpro was weer lekker spannend, na 6 uur racen kwamen Porsche en Ferrari bijna tegelijk over de finish. Dat belooft wat voor Le Mans

Alleen even ter info: de 24 uur van Zolder maakt geen deel uit van het World Endurance Championship.

Maar 24 uurs races zijn wel erg leuk en gezellig.

Zoals hierboven al staat, het maakt geen deel uit van de WEC.

Als ik mij niet vergis komt de 24h van Zolder dit jaar in geen enkel kampioenschap voor.
Het is dus een race op zich. Daardoor zou ik wachten tot enkele weken vóór de race of ja al dan niet gaat.
Kwestie van de deelnemerslijst te weten.

Gisteren toch weer een heerlijke race gezien, mooi dat de Peugota al zoveel stappen heeft gemaakt En Audi die maar blijft knoeien.
En natuurlijk mooi dat Albers een raceje in de Lotus mocht afwerken na 2 jaar afwezig zijn.
