Geen Jetalliance dit jaar

Jetalliance pull out of FIA GT

Jetalliance Racing Aston MartinFIA GT race-winners Jetalliance Racing have pulled out of the 2009 championship.

The Aston Martin team had previously skipped last year's season finale in Argentina for financial reasons, and have now announced that they are withdrawing from the series completely.

"2009 will be a transition year for us," said owner/driver Lukas Lichtner-Hoyer. "The FIA GT Championship - which will have new regulations starting in 2010 - is hence of no interest to us this year, since it is also too expensive.

"It just does not make any sense to make such a huge investment once more in a period of global recession."

Jetalliance's lead drivers Karl Wendlinger and Ryan Sharp took more victories than any other squad in last year's FIA GT series, but also suffered various misfortunes and only finished sixth in the championship.

The team could still contest the Spa 24 Hours as part of a programme of one-off endurance events this year, and are also seeking a Le Mans 24 Hours entry.

Sharp will remain with Jetalliance and will race in this week's Dubai 24 Hours, while Wendlinger's contract has not been extended.

Geen FIA-GT, maar ze gaan toch wel gewoon door, hetzij in de Porsche-cups en waarschijnlijk in de Endurance races (Spa en Le Mans ) het is dus niet zo dat ze ermee gaan stoppen.
Hopelijk gaan ze wel in iets anders rijden dan een 430 GT

Ik vraag me af in hoeverre Phoenix Carsport Racing nog meedoet volgend jaar. Want Fasseler, Hezemans en Gollin gaan volgend jaar rijden in LMES.

Ik zag die blauw-witte astons graag rijden

Tijdens de Spa 24h 2008 deden ze ook mee aan de GT4 race met de volgende auto.

Wel mooi om te zien dat Jetalliance e.a. teams in dit soort boodschappen gelijk aan geven Spa en LeMans wel te doen. Kun je als Fia zijnde van die mooie wereldpodia neerzetten (WRC, FIA GT en F1) Dat 'belangrijke' podium is het eerste wat sneuvelt als het een beetje lastiger wordt. En LeMans en Spa gaan lachend verder voorlopig, al zullen die het ook wel een beetje merken in de sterkte van het veld.

Doodzonde dat de circuitleiding van Spa heeft geluisterd naar FIA en die baan op de schop heeft gegooid. Ik denk dat met de beroerde faciliteiten en slechte toegangswegen en een losstaand event Spa nog altijd meer te bieden heeft dan heel Fia (en sukkels als Tylke en Wahl) met hun 'goede' plannen ooit kunnen realiseren. Misschien zou Fia dit soort duidelijke boodschappen eens moeten in zien.

Niet meer met JetAlliance, maar Wendlinger blijft wel in de GT

Wendlinger and Sharp to fight for 2009 title with KplusK Motorsport Saleen
Karl Wendlinger will pursue the 2009 FIA GT Championship title from the wheel of a Ford Saleen! The new project was presented in the luxurious Hilton Prague hotel today.

A quick look at the facts: Wendlinger’s new “provider” is the team of “KplusK Motorsport” based in the Czech Republic, his new “piece of equipment” is a Ford Saleen. The Austrian can however fall back on long-standing relationships too: He will share the cockpit with Scotland’s Ryan Sharp – like he has been doing over the past two years – while Switzerland’s Othmar Welti will remain Karl’s race engineer.

“I really had some very good offers”, Wendlinger says, “but eventually I decided to commit to KplusK Motorsport – because I believe that the environment there is very good and that it suits me ideally. The team is highly motivated and well set-up. That’s why I’m convinced that – even though KplusK is a new FIA GT team – we can be successful immediately.”

Karl is also satisfied with the choice of car: “I always had very high opinion of the Ford Saleen. Our new car is state of the art and certainly competitive.”

The first test sessions in Spain two weeks ago were by all means satisfactory. Karl Wendlinger: “The car proved to be very balanced right away. Moreover we’ve already begun to tweak the setup – to find out how the car reacts to various things.”

Further test days are scheduled before the start of the season in Silverstone at the beginning of May: “The two official FIA GT test days in April at Le Castellet and in Portugal are already set, but we also want to fit in a test in March, although the circuit hasn’t been decided on yet”, Othmar Welti explains.

As far as the championship is concerned Wendlinger is sure that “there will again be a high-quality entry list this year. There are many rumours about new teams and new drivers. That’s why it will again be very important to perform well from the start of the season in order to be able to run up front consistently and avoid non-finishes.”

Besides Wendlinger and Sharp, KplusK Motorsport will enter a second Ford Saleen. The drivers? Adam Lacko (CZE) has already been signed, several drivers are in line for the second spot – but these negotiations are still ongoing.

Ehm het is best wel duidelijk dat ze niet vrijwillig in die Saleen zitten. Als Jetalliance had gereden hadden ze echt wel een jaartje eraan geplakt. Dit is gewoon noodgedwongen aangezien dit 1 van de weinige kansen is om een zitje te bemachtigen dit jaar, het zou me ook niet verbazen als dat team hun aardig wat geld heeft geboden. Aston Martin richt zich sowieso niet meer op de DBR9/

En volgens berichten is dit de wagen van ACEMCO, die in 2006 Le Mans reed zonder enig resultaat (Het heeft niet de updates van Zakspeed of Oreca). Dus het team is bij voorbaat al kansloos

Xavier Maassen zal het seizoen 2009 opnieuw in het FIA GT-kampioenschap met een Corvette C6.R starten, maar ditmaal samen met het Franse team Luc Alphand Aventures en de Franse coureur Guillaume Moreau. “Continuïteit troef dus”, blikt Xavier vooruit. “En dat is geen toeval, het is een bewuste keuze geweest, met het oog op een optimaal resultaat. Samen met Luc Alphand Aventures en Guillaume Moreau mik ik op de top 3 in het FIA GT kampioenschap, al is de hoogste ambitie uiteraard de titel.”

Lucky Luc is waarschijnlijk wel een hele goede keuze
