Seven months before the Le Mans 24 Hours the Automobile Club de l’Ouest has unveiled the automatically invited entrants for the 2010 event. Twenty-nine cars are now invited for the big race; 7 LMP1s, 7 LMP2s, 6 GT1s and 9 GT2s. The teams that are invited now will still have to confirm their intention to race at Le Mans.
In the LMP1 class the top two from Le Mans, the Le Mans Series as well as the winners of the American Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and Petit Le Mans are given an automatic entry into Le Mans. For the first time in many years Audi does not have an automatic invite for Le Mans. Due to not taking part in the ALMS and LMS season and Peugeot winning both Le Mans and Petit Le Mans the German manufacturer will have to apply for an entry and wait for the ACO to decide if they can take part (and with what number of cars).
The invited teams in LMP1:
Peugeot Sport Total (Peugeot 908 HDi FAP) - 1st Le Mans 24 Hours 2009
Team Peugeot Total (Peugeot 908 HDi FAP) - 2nd Le Mans 24 Hours 2009
Aston Martin Racing (Lola Aston Martin) - 1st Le Mans Series 2009
Pescarolo Sport (Pescarolo 01 Judd) - 2nd Le Mans Series 2009
Patrón Highcroft Racing (Acura ARX-02a) - 1st American Le Mans Series 2009
Sora Racing (Pescarolo 01 Judd) - 1st Asian Le Mans Series 2009
Team Peugeot Total (Peugeot 908 HDi FAP) - 1st Petit Le Mans 2009
In LMP2 the winner of Petit Le Mans 2009 is not invited. The Dyson Racing Lola Mazda that won the race was not running in ACO 2009-spec and is therefore not invited. It is interesting though to see the Lowe’s Fernandez Racing Acura ARX-01b is invited as this team closed doors at the end of the 2009 season and was running the full American Le Mans Series season with a non-ACO spec rear wing as well (cf. ALMS regulations).
Speedy Racing Team Sebah has been given three automatic entries for its second place at Le Mans and in the Le Mans Series as well as winning the Michelin Green X Challenge.
The invited teams in LMP2:
Team Essex (Porsche RS Spyder) - 1st Le Mans 24 Hours 2009
Speedy Racing Sebah (Lola Judd) - 2nd Le Mans 24 Hours 2009

Lowe’s Fernández Racing (Acura ARX-01b) - 1st Petit Le Mans 2009
Speedy Racing Team Sebah (Lola Judd) - 1st Michelin Green X Challenge 2009
In GT1 there are six automatic invites. Since Corvette Racing only raced in a couple of ALMS GT1 races there will be no automatic entry for the American Le Mans Series winner. There was no GT1 class at Petit Le Mans either. Larbre Competition finished second in the Le Mans Series, but the French squad will not get an automatic entry as they did not race the full season - they missed the second round at Spa. The Asian Le Mans Series winner and FIA GT1 first and second placed cars are also invited.
The invited teams in LMGT1:
Corvette Racing (Corvette C6.R) - 1st Le Mans 24 Hours 2009

Vitaphone Racing Team (Maserati MC12) - 1st FIA GT 2009
PK Carsport (Corvette C6.R) - 2nd FIA GT 2009
And finally GT2. Nine cteams have been given an automatic entry. The top two of Le Mans, the Le Mans Series and the FIA GT Championship willbe joined by the winners of the American Le Mans Series, the Asian Le Mans Series and Petit Le Mans.
The invited teams in LMGT2:
